Secretly recording someone’s private conversation and sharing it without consent may amount to a violation of the right to privacy, which is protected under Article 21 of the Constitution of India. If your bhabhi is circulating recordings of your mother to relatives and issuing threats of legal action, you may take the following steps:
Send a legal notice warning her to immediately stop sharing the recordings and making threats.
File a police complaint for criminal intimidation under Section 506 IPC, and defamation under Section 500 IPC, if the recordings are being used to malign your mother's reputation.
If the recordings were taken without consent in a private setting, it may also amount to breach of privacy, and a complaint can be lodged with the Cyber Cell.
Keep evidence of the threats and recordings (screenshots, audio, messages) for use in any legal proceeding.
