In accordance with Indian legislation, acquiring consent for sexual activity by means of a false promise of marriage is a criminal act. In this regard, Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),2023, prescribes punishment for the act of sexual intercourse that is committed under false pretences, namely by making a false promise for marriage which is unfulfilled. You may wish to contact the local police or women’s cell to file a First Information Report (FIR), where your chats and photographs will serve as evidence of the crime. Remember that, usually, courts determine whether the promise was fraudulent from the very beginning or simply a case of breaking one’s legitimate promise. I hope this answer helps.
