► My deceased mother-in-law has left behind a residential land plot (Maharashtra). She has 3 sons and 2 daughters as her heirs,my father in law is not alive.
If my husband registers her daughters (that is my sister-in-laws) also in mutation process (ferfaar) as heirs.
Want to understand how can we later divide the property as per Muslim Shariah law? Wont they claim equal distribution as against the 2/3 for sons?
Is there any other way the distribution needs to be handled to make it as per Muslim Shariah law?

Dear Madam,
Mutation (Ferfar) Does NOT Decide Ownership
In Maharashtra, mutation entry (ferfar) is not proof of ownership.
It only shows whose name is entered for revenue purposes, not who legally owns what share.
Even if all 5 children (3 sons + 2 daughters) are entered equally in mutation, that does not mean they automatically get equal shares legally.
Actual distribution is always as per the applicable personal law, in your case Muslim inheritance law
