Section 498A IPC (or Section 85 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) basically is a non-compoundable crime. Therefore, a Lok Adalat and a Magistrate are unable to quash an FIR lawfully. You may be able to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and get it recorded before a Lok Adalat in a matter of 15 to 20 days, but this does not bring about the end of your case automatically. For an FIR to be quashed formally based on a mutual compromise, an application under Section 482 CrPC (or Section 528 of BNSS) needs to be presented before the High Court.
