► Sir/Ma’am, I need legal guidance regarding harassment and threats from my ex-partner. We were in a relationship for approximately 6 years. I am Hindu and she is Muslim. Over the last 1–1.5 years the relationship became unhealthy, where she frequently tried to control my time and routine, repeatedly fought over small issues, and used abusive language. During arguments she would often accuse me without any proof and do character assassination if I was late to call or unavailable due to work. She also repeatedly threatened suicide and self-harm, and many times I continued the relationship only out of fear of escalation. At times when she consumed alcohol, she also abused and threatened my family. Due to continuous mental stress and lack of respect and stability, I decided to end the relationship. On 31 December 2025, I clearly informed her, in the presence of her younger sister, that I do not want to continue and that I do not see a healthy future in this relationship. Her younger sister also told me not to call/message/meet her further and said the family would take care of her. However, since yesterday she has started calling me continuously and sending threatening messages, and she has also messaged to one of my family friends late at night, who have no involvement in this matter. I am concerned about ongoing harassment, defamation, and potential false allegations, and I want you to guide me what i have to do now?. What legal steps take to protect myself and my family.

Dear Sir, as per your query,
1. Preserve all call records, messages, threats and informally disengage completely to avoid misuse or escalation.
2. Send a legal notice through an advocate recording the breakup on 31 December 2025 and demanding immediate cessation of harassment and defamation.
3. File a written police complaint for harassment and criminal intimidation to secure preventive protection for yourself and your family.
