Dear Client, as per your query, in India, a competent adult possesses the absolute right to refuse medical treatment under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees the right to bodily integrity and personal freedom. Unwanted medical treatment without the patient's consent is considered "medical battery" or assault in law, except in the following circumstances: in life-threatening emergencies when the patient is unconscious (implied consent), mental health emergencies in which there is a potential threat of injury to oneself or others, as per the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017, or when there is a potential threat of highly contagious diseases. Moreover, the government may interfere in the case of minors if the guardian's refusal of treatment endangers the life of the minor, or in the case of prisoners as per certain safety regulations. I hope this answer is helpful. In case of further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank You.
